Gunpowder

Join the team.

Small senior team. Five cities, four continents. One role open right now.

Technologist.

Direct customer technical work. Cloud platforms, render farms, pipelines, and the scripts that hold it together when the deadline lands at 2 a.m.

Full-time. Remote, with hub anchors in Los Angeles, Montreal, London, Mumbai, and Singapore.

The role.

You work directly with the studios, artists, and venues we serve, from solo creators to full stadium scale. The job is technical, practical, and customer-facing: cloud platforms, render farms, pipelines, scripts, and the support that holds it together when the deadline lands at 2 a.m.

Gunpowder runs lean. Everyone here is senior, hands-on, and trusted to ship. You own work end-to-end across cloud administration, systems work, scripting, and the VFX pipeline itself. The proof shows up in production: Super Bowl spots, dome installations, generative art at Davos, render economics rewritten.

You report to the technical leadership. You will not be micromanaged. The bar is high, the team is small, and the work is real.

What you will do

  • Cloud platform administration on Google Cloud, AWS, and the toolchain around them.
  • Linux, Windows, and macOS systems work, end to end.
  • Python and Bash scripting for orchestration, pipeline glue, and operational tooling.
  • Remote workstation solutions, including PCoIP, Teradici, and HP Anyware.
  • Render farm operations: capacity, queueing, cost tuning, knfsd caching.
  • Direct customer support across technical, workflow, and creative challenges.

What we look for

  • Comfort across Linux, Windows, and macOS, without strong preference.
  • Intermediate to advanced Python and Bash.
  • VFX or post-production pipeline familiarity.
  • Cloud experience at scale: render farms, storage, networking, identity.
  • A bias toward owning the problem rather than handing it off.
  • Calm under deadline pressure, and good in front of the customer.
